From the moment materials arrive at our facility until they are ready for delivery, the Silvex team leaves nothing to chance.
We work with intricate components, including battery materials, where even a tiny defect could lead to significant failures. That’s why our inspection process is critical. Here’s how we ensure the quality of every item that passes through our doors.
Material Handling
Silvex processes rectangular sheets of aluminum or titanium, each requiring specific plating to meet the demands of their intended applications. Aluminum sheets, typically around 18×15 inches, are silver-plated. Titanium sheets, which tend to be smaller, receive platinum plating.
After playing, the flat sheets are stacked to form crucial parts for batteries and other high-performance products. Given these materials’ role in aerospace, defense, and electric hydrogen industries, there’s no margin for defects. Flaws such as surface imperfections can lead to malfunctions, and we take responsibility for preventing those failures seriously.
Our Multi-Step Inspection Process
All materials undergo a rigorous inspection to ensure they are free from defects that could affect the final product’s performance. Here’s how we maintain our high standards and ensure products perform under the most grueling conditions:
Initial Material Inspection
Our inspection team conducts a visual and tactile examination when materials arrive at our plant. They quickly identify potential issues like delamination, pitting, or surface scratches. Catching these problems early prevents resource waste and ensures we aren’t plating materials that could ultimately fail in their intended use.
Rejecting Defective Materials
If we identify a defect, we immediately reject it. Issues like delamination or pitting might seem small but can lead to significant problems in critical applications like medical devices, aerospace components, or batteries used in defense. By removing defective materials from the process, we help prevent failures down the line.
Material Prep
After the initial inspection, each sheet undergoes a thorough cleaning. Surface contaminants, even those invisible to the naked eye, can interfere with the adhesion of plating materials. Proper cleaning ensures a smooth surface ready for the next processing stage.
Racking
Our team constantly inspects materials during racking for defects not detected during handling. Everyone at Silvex is empowered to stop the process if they detect a problem, whether a surface flaw or improper alignment. This ensures that only flawless materials proceed to plating.
The culture of responsibility at Silvex ensures that quality is a shared goal, and each team member understands the importance of producing reliable results.
Post Plating Quality
Once plating is complete, the materials undergo a final round of inspections. We perform visual checks to confirm that the surface is flawless and conduct advanced tests to verify that the plating adheres correctly.
These inspections align with strict industry standards like ISO 9001:2015 and NADCAP. By the end of this process, we ship products that meet the highest standards.
